Try it in Mement
- Open Today and check the Active Space before deciding work is missing.
- Choose one commitment that still matters. Keep, reschedule, complete or delete old work honestly.
- Pause Habits you are not practicing and leave one ready action for the next visit.
An overdue date is information to review
Reschedule work you still intend to do. Complete only what actually happened. Delete a commitment you have dropped instead of marking it done to tidy a chart. Check container contents before completing or deleting a whole group.
Keep the restart small
Use a five-minute Session or one Habit check-in if that is useful today. Pause preserves Habit history. Archive has a 30-day restoration window, so it is not a safe indefinite break. Scores may change during a gap; they do not decide whether restarting counts.
How it works in Mement
Make a plan you can use today
Start with the work, then choose its structure
A Task is enough for a single action. A List keeps related Tasks together, a Project groups work toward a result, and an Area holds an ongoing responsibility. You can use dates, reminders, tags, Spaces, Sessions, and the other planning tools without enabling GTD.
For example, “Send the revised quote” can stay a standalone Task. “Prepare the client presentation” may need a Project containing several Tasks. “Work” can be an Area containing that Project and other commitments. Add structure when it helps you find and review your work.
Make decisions about a real day
Suppose you have a meeting at 14:00, a quote to send, three errands, and only an hour for other work. Keep the meeting’s actual time. Choose “Send the revised quote” for today, then leave the later presentation Tasks in their Project. The errands can stay in a List until you plan the trip in Nearby.
Habits in Today follow their own schedule and goals. Check what is due before adding more Tasks. A weekly reading goal and a Task to send a document represent different kinds of progress, even when you work on both today.
In the evening, mark the quote done if you sent it. For an unfinished Task, choose a new date, remove an unnecessary date while keeping it in its Project, or delete it if the commitment no longer exists. A Session records time spent; stopping it does not automatically complete the work.
Keep tomorrow’s choices possible
Review active Projects and Areas regularly. Ask what still matters, whether a Project has an actionable next step, and whether a saved date still reflects a real commitment. Tags or a Work Space can help you review related plans across several Projects.
If you enable GTD, use Workflow to clarify Inbox records and review the five statuses. Ordinary daily planning still works with GTD off. You can also configure morning, evening, and weekly reminders in reminder settings. The weekly notification opens Analytics; a GTD review starts separately from Workflow.
Return after a break
After a holiday or a busy week, begin with time-bound commitments and active Projects. Review overdue Tasks individually so an old plan does not become today’s workload by accident. Look in Completed or Deleted when you remember handling something but cannot find it among active records.
Build the next day’s plan from the work that remains relevant. You do not need to recreate your workspace or assign new dates to every saved idea.
Choose between skipping, pausing and archiving a Habit
Skip one day
Skip today records an intentional exception for a daily goal. Use it when today is a planned break rather than an unrecorded day. Earlier progress entries remain in history. The skipped day does not count as a successful goal; choosing Skip is not a way to complete a Habit.
For a one-day interruption, use Skip today. For a recurring change, open “Schedule”. If Tuesday is no longer a practice day, open Custom, choose a weekly interval and select the weekdays you want to keep. Review the summary before saving.
Weekly and monthly amount goals do not support daily skip records: their target is evaluated over the whole week or month. Review the goal period before looking for Skip today. A daily schedule and a daily goal are different settings, even if both currently say Daily.
Pause a Habit you plan to return to
Pause removes the Habit from active tracking while keeping its setup and earlier entries. For a longer holiday or recovery break, this keeps a routine ready for later. Resume makes it active again using its saved configuration; review its goal and schedule if your circumstances have changed.
Earlier check-ins and resolved goals remain visible in historical Analytics ranges. Pausing ends the current open period at the time of the state change without turning it into a new failed period. An existing result that was already resolved is still part of the history.
If the Habit seems missing, open All habits and inspect its state. A future start date, a day outside the Schedule rule, or a Space with Show habits turned off can explain why it is absent from Today. Older Habits may also retain a flexible weekly quota that has already been met. Those situations do not require restoring an archived Habit.
Archive only when the retention period suits you
Archive removes the Habit from active tracking and places it in the archived section of All habits. You can archive from its row menu or swipe action. The definition and tracking history are kept for 30 days, after which they are permanently deleted.
To undo the decision in time, find the archived Habit and choose Restore from the row menu or swipe action. Check its configuration and history after restoring. Do not assume an archived Habit will remain available indefinitely.
Choose Pause if you want a long break with the Habit and its history retained. Archive is useful only when you accept the 30-day removal window. Permanent Habit deletion also removes its attachment records and stored files or photos. Keep any material you still need outside that Habit.
