Try it in Mement

  1. Open a Task, List, Project, or Area editor and add a tag that helps you find it later.
  2. Reuse an existing tag when it describes the same context, such as work or phone.
  3. Choose High, Medium, or Low priority when you want to express importance, or leave priority unset.
  4. Use tags to find related work, or combine them with other conditions in a Smart filter.
  5. Save the record and check that the chosen labels and priority communicate what you intended.

Use a tag to connect work across Projects

Suppose “Call the supplier” belongs to a Presentation Project and “Book the repair” belongs to a Home Area. Tag both phone. When you have time for calls, that label helps you find actions that share a context even though they belong to different parts of your plan.

A work tag can identify professional commitments; office can identify a useful context; a review tag can mark records you want to inspect together. Choose names you will recognize later and reuse them consistently. A tag labels the record; Parent and Space have their own controls for placement and focus.

Task, List, Project, and Area editors support tags and priority. Habits use their own tracking goals and schedules, so choose the Habit controls when you want to describe repeated behavior rather than an organizational label on a Task.

Keep importance separate from when you act

Mark “Send the revised quote” High if it deserves particular attention. Give “Collect the parcel” a time when the collection window matters, even if you leave its priority unset. Importance and timing answer different questions and can be used together.

Priority does not set a date, create a reminder, or turn on a time-sensitive notification. If you need an alert, configure Date & Time and the relevant reminder options separately. A high-priority undated Task still needs to be found through your reviews or filtered views.

You can also include supported markers such as #work and !high in a title, apply the suggestions, and inspect the resulting fields before saving. Direct selection in the editor works as well.

Save a useful combination

For a reusable Work List, configure Smart to include Tasks tagged work and add any other conditions you need. Read the tag-group rules carefully: several included tags accept a match with any included tag, while every excluded tag must be absent.

For a more selective example, combine tag work, completion Status Incomplete, and High Priority using All. A completed high-priority work Task fails the unfinished condition. With Any, one matching condition would be enough, so the result would be broader.

Manually linked contents remain included in a Smart container even when they fail the automatic filter. If a result surprises you, check both the saved conditions and Linked. The Smart recipes guide gives complete examples you can compare with your own setup.

Before you finish

  • Tags have names you will recognize and reuse.
  • Priority expresses importance, while dates and reminders express timing.
  • A saved filter’s conditions and manual contents match the view you wanted.
