Try it in Mement

  1. Create or share a supported Mement card in Apple Messages.
  2. The recipient reviews the incoming content and explicitly saves a copy.
  3. Confirm who is responsible in the conversation, then maintain your own Task and reminder.

Copies do not become live collaboration

Receiving a Task, List, Project or Area card does not create a shared workspace or assignment system. Sender and recipient have independent records. Later edits on one side do not update the other.

Check the card, not just its title

Review notes, location and included material before sending. A lock on your original record does not redact a shared card. If the agreement changes, tell the other person and update the relevant copies explicitly.

How it works in Mement

Send a Mement card through Messages

Give the action enough context

The Messages extension lets you compose a Task card inside a conversation. A clear action such as “Collect the reserved paint” is easier to use than “Paint”. Add the collection time or place when those details determine what the recipient needs to do.

The expanded editor carries supported Task details, including notes, dates, priority, tags, recurrence, and location. Review these before sending. A saved place may include more information than its short name, so check the actual location as well as the title.

Cards received in a supported format can also contain a List, Project, or Area with Tasks. Mement opens the appropriate import editor for that kind of record. The Messages composer described here creates a Task; the receiving flow can handle those broader plan cards too.

Expand the Mement editor in Messages to add files, photos, links or a place through Attach. A Task with files or photos is sent as one .mementtask file; smaller link/location-only Tasks can use the interactive card. The recipient needs the updated Mement app to open the file, review its materials and save the Task. Transfer supports up to 12 materials and 25 MiB of binary data in total. If sharing fails, the draft remains available for retry.

Save a copy that fits your own plans

The recipient reviews the card before saving a separate record. Suppose someone sends “Collect the reserved paint” for Tuesday. You can confirm the place, change the time to your agreed plan, and save the Task under your own project.

An imported List, Project, or Area can bring its included Tasks into the corresponding structure. Inspect what the editor contains rather than assuming the card carries every nested container or Smart setting. Choose the details that are useful for your own copy.

Each person then manages their own records. If the sender changes a date later, the previously saved copy does not update automatically. Send the revised information in the conversation and update the copy you use. This makes cards useful for handing off a concrete action or a starter plan.

Check the contents before sending

A card you explicitly send can include its notes and place details. In-app biometric protection does not automatically remove every field from that card. Review the shared content and remove anything the recipient does not need.

Private custom icon-pack references are removed from card data. Receiving a record does not give someone access to your private icon library; the recipient can choose an icon available in their own Mement.

For ongoing work together, agree how you will communicate changes. The card is a copy, not a jointly edited workspace. It is also a way to share selected information rather than a backup of all your plans.
