Try it in Mement

  1. Open an item editor and tap its icon preview to open the Icon Library.
  2. In the Mement pack, browse SF Symbols or Emoji. Use search, or choose an Emoji category; a long press or secondary menu exposes supported variants.
  3. Choose an icon and background color, inspect the preview and save the item. Keep its title clear as well.
  4. For custom artwork, open the current pack’s menu, choose Import pack and select an unpacked folder or SVG/PNG files. Select an imported icon and save the item.

Example visual conventions

These examples illustrate icon, emoji and colour choices. They are website illustrations, not screenshots or automatic Mement categories.

  • Home

A house symbol and green background can help identify ongoing household plans. Keep the Home name visible.

  • Work

A briefcase symbol and blue background can distinguish work responsibilities. The colour does not assign priority or GTD status.

  • Study

A book emoji can make a course project easy to recognise. Emoji artwork and available variants follow the device’s system.

Create recognizable choices without a rigid scheme

Use visual cues that help you find your own plans. A house symbol can identify a household Area, a book a study Project and a suitcase a packing List. These are suggested choices, not required categories. You can use different symbols, emoji and colors for individual records or give related work a common look.

The preview shows the icon and background together. Try a color with enough contrast to keep the symbol visible, and retain a descriptive title so the record makes sense without color. An icon’s appearance does not change its type, schedule or priority.

The built-in Mement pack contains both SF Symbols and Emoji. Emoji categories reduce browsing; search looks across available names and variants. Press and hold an Emoji family, or use the native secondary menu, to choose a supported skin-tone, gender or family variant. Available emoji follow the system version.

Browsing another pack does not replace your selected icon. The preview retains it until you choose a different image. This lets you compare options before returning to the editor.

Bring in a supported icon pack

Open the pack name beneath the Icon Library title to reach its menu, then choose Import pack. Select a folder that you have already unpacked, or several SVG and PNG files. Mement searches supported files in subfolders. A downloaded ZIP must be unpacked first; it is not an accepted import.

A pack can contain up to 200 icons and 25 MB of processed image files. Each PNG must contain one frame and be no larger than 1024 by 1024 pixels or 1 MB. Unsupported files in a folder are skipped, but an unsafe or invalid supported image can reject the import as a whole. If nothing imports, inspect the error and try a smaller valid set.

SVG is checked and converted for display using Apple’s tools. Imported icons use Mement’s foreground and background colors as template symbols. A multicolor illustration will not retain its original full-color appearance, so simple silhouettes are a useful starting point.

After a successful import, the new pack is selected and ready locally, including offline. Choose an icon just as you would a built-in symbol. No Mement-specific manifest or custom archive format is required.

Keep, update or remove your collection

Imported packs belong to your private iCloud account and synchronize to other devices when available. The menu shows Waiting to sync, Synced with iCloud or Sync conflict. Pending synchronization does not prevent using icons already stored on the current device.

To update changed artwork, import the same folder or file set again. An unchanged source does not create another copy. Renaming source paths can make them appear as a different pack, so reuse the same source when you intend an update.

The active imported pack’s menu offers Delete with confirmation. Deletion removes its images and synchronizes to other devices. Existing records remain, showing a neutral replacement until the pack returns or you select another icon. A Task card shared with another account does not expose the private pack reference.

Before you finish

  • Check the icon and background preview, then confirm the saved record still has a clear title.
  • Before importing, unpack archives and check the supported formats and limits.
  • For use on another device, inspect the pack’s iCloud status before replacing a missing icon.
