Try it in Mement
- In Mement, open Settings → Data Imports → Apple Reminders and choose the import action.
- Allow the requested Reminders access, then select the lists you want to bring into Mement. Check the number of unfinished reminders before importing.
- Run the import and read the result. Imported, skipped, and failed items are reported separately.
- Continue to organization if you want Lists, Projects, or Areas around the imported Tasks. Review suggestions and choose the parent of each Task.
- Choose Save structure to apply the plan, or Continue without organizing to keep the Tasks as they are.
- Open one imported Task and its linked reminder in Apple Reminders. Check the title and schedule before changing a larger group.
Choose the work you want to bring across
The Data Imports screen lets you start an import after onboarding. You choose source lists rather than having to bring every reminder into Mement. Select All is useful when you want every selectable list; clear the selection and choose individual lists when you want to try a smaller set first.
Mement imports unfinished reminders from lists outside its own dedicated list. Completed reminders and reminders already linked to an existing Mement Task are skipped. Lists that cannot be written to are not selectable. If the result reports failures, inspect the successful Tasks before retrying; a partial result is different from an empty import.
Permission and import are separate choices. The screen also offers a way to enable ongoing synchronization without importing the other lists. This is useful if you want to keep your existing Apple Reminders organization and begin with new work in Mement.
Turn imported Tasks into a usable plan
Suppose your reminders include “Measure the room”, “Choose paint”, and “Ask for a quote”. You can put them in a Project called “Refresh the bedroom”, then add a shopping List later if the work grows. The proposed organization gives you a starting point; change names and parents to match your work.
Choosing a suggestion updates the plan shown on screen. Save structure creates its Lists, Projects, or Areas and applies the selected Task relationships. Continue without organizing keeps the imported Tasks, so you can arrange them yourself later. When imported work is still available to organize, the Apple Reminders action menu can offer the organization flow again.
If saving the structure fails, keep the screen open and retry. Check the imported Tasks separately from the proposed structure: the Tasks can already exist even though the organization was not saved.
Understand the Mement list in Apple Reminders
With synchronization enabled, Mement uses a dedicated list in Apple Reminders. Imported reminders can move into this list. New Mement Tasks with scheduling information can appear there too; an imported reminder can retain its link even without a due date.
For a linked Task, supported edits to the reminder’s title, schedule, or recurrence can return to Mement. Completing the reminder completes its linked Task. Mement handles the notifications. Try an ordinary example such as “Collect the parcel” with a known time, then inspect the same change in both apps.
A date without a time stays a day-level plan. A date and time carry the specific time. If the whole dedicated list temporarily disappears, first check access and iCloud availability rather than deleting the Mement Tasks or importing everything again.
What to check after the move
The imported reminders become Tasks. Your Mement Lists, Projects, Areas, Habits, and Smart rules have their own structure and settings. Use the organization screen to create the containers you want instead of expecting every Apple Reminders list to become the same Mement hierarchy automatically.
Before a bulk change, confirm where the reminders now live and whether ongoing synchronization is enabled. If you need help, say whether the problem happened when selecting lists, importing, saving the structure, or editing a linked reminder. These details make the next check much clearer.
Before you finish
- The selected source lists contain the unfinished work I intended to import.
- The import result and the organization result have both been checked.
- I know which Apple Reminders list holds the linked reminders.
